Film capacitor, also known as plastic film capacitor, takes plastic film as dielectric. Depending on the medium, there are many kinds of capacitors, such as electrolyte capacitorspaper capacitorsfilm capacitorsceramic capacitorsmica capacitorsair capacitors, etc.

Thin film capacitors are mainly used in many industries, such as electronics, home appliances, communications, electric power, electrified railways, hybrid electric vehicles, wind power, solar power and so on. The stable development of these industries has promoted the growth of the thin film capacitor market.

Thin film capacitor is a capacitor with metal foil as electrode, which is overlapped with plastic films such as polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene or polycarbonate from both ends and wound into a cylindrical structure. It is a passive electronic component that stores and releases electric energy in the form of static electricity. According to the structural form, it can be divided into winding type, laminated type, inductive type and non inductive type, of which winding non inductive type is the most widely used.

The base film used in thin-film capacitors accounts for 60% - 70% of the material cost and is the core raw material of thin-film capacitors. At present, the capacity of special functional base films used to make high-end film capacitors is low, and the supply and demand structure is unbalanced, which basically depends on imports.

With the development of technology, the upgrading cycle of many industries such as electronics, home appliances, communications and so on is getting shorter and shorter. With its good electrical performance and high reliability, thin-film capacitors have become indispensable electronic components to promote the upgrading of these industries.

In the next few years, with the further development of digitalization, informatization and networking, the increased investment of the state in power grid construction, electrified railway construction, energy-saving lighting, hybrid electric vehicles and other aspects, as well as the upgrading of consumer electronic products, the market demand for thin-film capacitors will further show a trend of rapid growth.
